My winter break wasn’t exciting nor was it boring it was full of fun times I spend with my family over the holidays. I was able to spend more time with my family than I had done all year long. We were able to interact more as a family and not look at each other as just close relatives. We had a huge potluck, a bond fire, and we had a gift exchange, not to mention the stories we heard from our uncles and our parents telling us to value those precious moments we had, because when they were our age they never had those types of luxuries. As we passed down the gifts, we told one another, “it’s not the gift that counts, it’s the thought of you trying to give something to someone and that make it special”. As we sat down at the table we had to think to ourselves what do we want to eat. Smoked ham, Tamales, Posole, Cheesecake, etc., those were some of many food dishes we had for all of us to eat, and like we always do at every potluck, we thank everyone for the food we have because we know some families out that don't have the privilege to have food on their plates and the biggest gift anyone can have, is to be with your family. After we had diner we went outside and sat around the fire. Us kids we enjoyed roasting marshmallows in the fire and eating the hot melted white fugged the marshmallow had. What we liked the most was when it was our turn to tell the stories we have during school time. We enjoyed laughing at everything we said to each other but most of all we enjoyed being close together. At the end of our binding time at the fire we would go back inside and enjoy watching movies as a family. Popcorn was the top priority snack we asked while watching the movie. Half ways through the movie, a few of us will fall asleep, and that when we the awake one come and make pranks to those still sleeping.
Over all, these three weeks that we had for break made me realize that family should be the best gift anyone can have. What I enjoyed the most was spending time with family, having to bond with them during and after the diner and bond fire, having a potluck, and for having the gift exchange. During these holidays everyone should have the privilege to spend time with their family. Family bonding means a lot to me,because it's the time of year we do it more often and as a family. Those memories will always be inside of me, and just flashing back to them will make me remember the times we had fun. They will also make me remeber that we did it as a family. To us these times are special, and no one will ever change them, because the word family had lost of meanings to it.
